FDNY Fire Commissioner
Salvatore Cassano
Commissioner Cassano was appointed a New York City firefighter in November of 1969, and worked for several years at engine companies in lower Manhattan. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1977 and worked at Ladder 113 in Brooklyn, where he also served after his promotion to Captain in 1984. He continued to rise through the ranks as Battalion Chief (1987), Deputy Chief (1993), Deputy Assistant Chief (1999) and Assistant Chief (2001), working in various assignments throughout the city, including responsibility as the on-duty Citywide Tour Commander. He has been cited five times for bravery during his career.
Following the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center, Chief Cassano was named Chief of Operations. As Chief of Operations, Chief Cassano held the second-highest uniformed rank in the Department, managing daily fire and EMS operations for the Department's 11,500 firefighters and 2,800 EMT's and paramedics. As Chief of Department he oversees the Department's three major uniformed Bureaus: Operations, Training and Fire Prevention.
Chief Cassano has a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Science from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

Chief John W. Norman III
Chief John Norman is a veteran of over 37 years in the fire service, until his retirement in 2007, he served as Deputy Assistant Chief, Special Operations Command (SOC) for the New York City Fire Department. John served as the Search and Rescue Manager for the World Trade Center attack, and held a key role in rebuilding the department in the following years.
Chief Norman's distinguished career with the New York City Fire Department, combined with his training in highly regarded programs such as The Leadership Development Facility at Columbia University, has made him an internationally sought after figure throughout the fields of incident response and management techniques. He has instructed at many venues over his career such as the Counter Terrorism Training Program conducted jointly by the FDNY and the United States Military. John also serves as an expert witness on fire operational matters in both federal and state courts.
John is the author of the best selling book, Fire Officer's Handbook of Tactics, and its accompanying study guide. Currently this best selling book is being produced as an audio book and DVD series.

Chief Michael Lombardo
Mike Lombardo is a 30-year veteran of the fire service and is a Battalion Chief with the Buffalo (NY) Fire Department. He was the Commissioner/Chief of Department of the Buffalo Fire Department from January 2006 to December 2009. He is a New York State fire instructor and was a member of the development team for New York State firefighter survival and rapid intervention programs. He has been an editorial advisor for Fire Engineering magazine, a member of the Advisory Board for FDIC and lead instructor for FDIC live fire training. He is a two time Firehouse Magazine Heroism Award recipient (1988 and 1994) and the recipient of the FDIC 1999 Training Achievement Award. He is an instructor on fire tactics, live fire attack, firefighter survival, and command throughout the United States.
